Loss Prevention: Charge Contacts
One key innovation core to a number of MTI’s retail solutions is its charge contacts. In this technology, charge contacts are mounted within both the base and the puck of a retail security device. The charge contacts mounted in the base are connected to a power source. The puck of the retail security device includes mating charge contacts. The charge contacts of the puck align and engage with the charge contacts of the base when the puck is in a resting position thereby enabling the security device to charge the attached mobile device or tablet.
MTI has a number of issued patents relating to its charge contacts technology, including the following:
- U.S. Pat No. 8,698,617, issued on April 15, 2014;
- U.S. Pat. No. 8,698,618, issued on April 15, 2014; and
- U.S. Pat. No. 9,786,140, issued on October 10, 2017.
In addition to the above-identified patents, MTI has pending patent applications relating to its charge contacts technology, including the following:
- U.S. Pub. No. 2017-0345266, published on November 30, 2017;
- U.S. Pub. No. 2018-0025596, published on January 25, 2018;
- U.S. Pub. No. 2018-0033267, published on February 1, 2018; and
- U.S. Pub. No. 2018-0049563, published on February 22, 2018.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued a Notice of Allowance on January 10, 2018 for U.S. Pub. No. 2017-0345266. In the Notice of Allowance, the USPTO allowed more than 50 claims relating to MTI’s charge contacts technology.
